redshank amongst the seaweed

I had a lovely time with some redshank yesterday...
High tide in Kirkcudbright Bay, South West Scotland was due to be at 08:00 and I thought this would give me a good chance of seeing waders or ducks near to the shore. High tide yesterday also coincided with a couple of hours of nicer weather, which was a bonus given the awful weather we have had recently. I charged my camera kit up the night before and got my bag packed ready to go.
I was very lucky. Where I parked there were a small number of redshank close by, so I didn't have to go far. It felt a real treat to sit and watch them go about their business for an hour or so, they move about very quickly! I often see, or at least hear, redshank along the shore here with their bright orange legs and unmistakable call.
I came away with some video and photos of them which I'll use as the starting point for a new fabric design. I use my camera a lot more these days, rather than my sketchbook, for gathering inspiration for new work. I have a YouTube channel, with a few of my adventures on, which gives you a little insight into my journey for new designs. www.youtube.com/@lucys_wildlife_films please consider subscribing and you will be notified when a new video is available.
I hope you get some time to enjoy the wildlife near you this week too.
Thanks for popping by.
