Cross Country

I recently spent a few days traveling the width of the country and of course doing a sketch here and there along the way. Part of the trip went through the Lake District, which was its usual stunning self but a place where I will never use SatNav to get from A to B ever again! I'll not bore you with the details. I enjoyed a pleasant walk, near where we were camping, in the company of Great Mell Fell and fell asleep that night listening to the screech of a barn owl and the soothing call of a snipe - doesn't get much better than that.

We headed off across country to Weardale, which has very lovely rolling landscape. This is a sketch from the campsite after a walk with the dogs along the River Wear. I watched dippers dipping and a mallard mum chasing after her naughty duckling. I like road trips.
